Ron Pevny. Conscious Living: Conscious Aging, Embrace and Savor your Next Chapter. (2014). Portland OR: Beyond Words.
I have been an ardent advocate for the Positive Aging movement – promoting life planning that builds on our strengths, and developing community networks for sharing our strengths. Ron Pevny’s book has shown me that “Positive Aging” may be superficial unless we look inward and clear the path for our authentic selves to flourish. Yes, we’ve acquired a lot of skills and know-how during the years that it’s taken to get old. But we’ve also acquired a lot of clutter that we need to relinquish before we find the spaciousness to achieve wellness.
Ron Pevny takes us through the process of life review, with steps to forgiveness, healing, and letting go. He shows us how to shine light on the shadows and how to rewrite our stories so that we can move on with a clear sense of purpose.
Conscious Living: Conscious Aging is a practical guide that integrates personal stories with a varied choice of step-by-step practices and a great list of excellent resources for follow-up. Get yourself a copy, because mine is too marked up to loan out.
